Parameter definition

Variable
Description
$v_{max}^{N}$
Finite Element node velocity cap
default: no upper limit
$v_{max}^{DP1}$
Discrete particle (SOIL and SPH) velocity cap
default: no upper limit
$v_{max}^{DP2}$
Discrete particle (AIR and HE) velocity cap
default: no upper limit
$v_{max}^{CFD}$
CFD velocity cap
default: no upper limit

Description

This command is used to define an upper limit for node, discrete particle and SPH velocities. The purpose it to prevent single nodes or particles, that (for numerical reasons) have reached extreme velocities, from destroying the simulation results. Nodes and particles that are moving too fast are simply brought back to the specified maximum allowed levels.
